Wheat cultivation in 32,584 hectares of land in 6 districts of south-western region including Jhenaidah
Wheat has been cultivated in 32,584 hectares of land in 6 districts of south-western region this season. The agriculture department expects that it will produce 1 lakh 10 thousand 425 tons of wheat.
According to the Jessore Regional Agriculture Extension Department office, the amount of land for district based wheat cultivation and production target is 1 thousand 352 tons in 399 hectare land in Jessore district, 14 thousand 502 tons in 4 thousand 26 hectare land in Jhenaidah district, 9 thousand 845 hectare land in Magura district. In Kushtia district 39 thousand 17 tons of land in 11 thousand 556 hectares, in Chuadanga district 395 tons in 995 hectares of land 3 thousand 363 tons and in Meherpur district 12 thousand 5 hundred hectares of land 42 thousand 365 tons of wheat.
The Department of Agriculture expects that in the current Rabi-2021-2022 season, 1 lakh 10 thousand 425 tons of wheat will be produced in that district at the rate of 3.39 tons per hectare from the mentioned amount of land. In order to achieve the objective of achieving extra yield, the field workers of the Department of Agriculture are providing all possible assistance to the farmers in wheat cultivation.
Dipankar Das, acting deputy director of Jessore Agriculture Extension Department, said farmers in the districts of the region are becoming more and more interested in wheat cultivation as the need for water is less for wheat cultivation. The field workers of the agriculture department are advising the farmers so that the farmers of the country can bring success in wheat cultivation so that they do not have to import wheat as per the demand of the country.
