Suddenly in the last two days, the temperature in Jhenaidah Kaliganj has come down. As a result, cold, cough and fever have spread from house to house in the freezing cold. Again, it is competing with cold diarrhea or rotavirus in children. Although adults can recover from the illness, children infected with rotavirus often have watery stools and vomiting. That is why the affected children are becoming more and more vulnerable in a short period of time. In the last one week, 41 children infected with rotavirus have been admitted to the Upazila Health Complex in Kaliganj, Jhenaidah. The number of children infected with rotavirus has increased in the last two days due to low temperature. In such a situation, the doctors of the hospital say that there is nothing to be afraid of, it is a water borne disease. Affected children are recovering by consuming plenty of pure water and food saline.
According to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, a total of 41 children infected with rotavirus have been admitted to the hospital in the last one week. This is happening in the freezing cold weather in the bone marrow. According to hospital sources, the number of children suffering from severe cold is increasing. Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated during the winter months. But this year the number of victims is higher. Symptoms include watery stools with occasional vomiting, runny nose, coughing and, in some cases, shortness of breath. However, the patients recover quickly after taking action with the advice of a doctor.
Nasima Khatun, mother of Labib, an 18-month-old baby from Chaprail village in the upazila, said Labib had been using the toilet for the last two days. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. But not less in his closet. He has become weak due to frequent vomiting and thin stools. He said that the incidence of corona is increasing all over the country.
On the other hand, children’s rotavirus is competing. However, at such a high rate of corona infection, the affected parents are in a dilemma to go to the doctor-hospital with corona infection in mind. However, they are being forced to take risks by thinking about children.
Riya Khatun, a mother of one-and-a-half-year-old Fatima, who was admitted to the hospital, said her daughter had been using the toilet since yesterday. With frequent vomiting. Even though it has decreased a little today, it will still take time for him to fully recover.
Mitu Das, mother of Moumita Das of Alaipur village in the upazila, said, “My child Moumita had a high fever a day ago. That night there was frequent vomiting and diarrhea. When he fainted, he was rushed to a hospital that night. She’s a little better now.
Ujjal Hossain of Raghunathpur village said that his infant daughter Fatema had fainted due to diarrhea three days ago. I rushed him to the hospital and admitted him. Still not fully recovered. The doctor said he would have to stay in the hospital for two more days.
Monira Begum, the mother of one of the infected children, said that at present the number of children infected with rotavirus in the hospital is high. Although the hospital has a separate diarrhea ward, the number of beds is much less. Again, the bed in the General Ward is not empty. As a result, the affected children are being treated for getting cold beds. Again there are no specialist doctors for children. All the diseases of the children are being treated in such misery. The guardian claims that the pediatrician has not been in the hospital for a long time. If there is anything complicated in the children, they have to be taken to Jhenaidah Jessore at least 20 km away for treatment. Which is a very expensive and time consuming affair.
Kaliganj Upazila Residential Medical Officer Dr. Mazaharul Islam said that people of all ages are more prone to colds in winter. However, adults and children are more affected. The rotavirus JK is spread in cold and humid environment with baby food. In the last seven days, a total of 41 children have been admitted to the hospital infected with rotavirus. Many of them have recovered and returned home. Something new is being added again.
Kaliganj Upazila Health and Family Officer Dr. Alamgir Hossain said that due to the change of weather with the seasons, there are some outbreaks of some diseases. In fact, children suffer from pneumonia, cold and cough fever. After a few days it returned to normal. He added that children have recently been infected with rotavirus. However, the number of victims in the last two days was a little less. Today, 11 new children infected with rotavirus have been admitted to the hospital. Children infected with rotavirus also recover after a few days of treatment. As a result, there is nothing to fear.
